Swimming

Our two pools at the Nene Centre in Thrapston offer the community the chance to enjoy the water.  Whether its our toddler sessions in the confidence pool to lane swimming in the 25 metre deck level pool, there is a great programme of water-based activities to suit everyone, making it a great place for the whole family.  

We cater for all ages and abilities and have dedicated sessions including:

Our Swim School programme is designed to provide first class swimming tuition at value for money prices.  Our programme includes Adult Lessons so everyone can learn to swim or improve their skills in a supervised environment.  We also offer Synchronised Swimming and Rookie Lifeguard sessions.

Some sessions coincide with our Crèche opening times so why not leave your little one(s) to have some fun in a safe environment whilst having some 'you time'.

£2.50 an hour per child (£1.90 for members)

Private swimming lessons are also available - please enquire at Reception for details. 

 We also support national initiatives such as Swimfit, The Big Splash and Swimathon.  Register with Swimfit for health, fitness, to tone your body or be competitive!

Kids Crazy

Children and young people aged 8-16 can have a brilliant time in the water on Sundays 2:30pm-3:30pm.

The cost is £1.70 for the hour of fun fun and more fun. 

 Rookie Lifeguard Programme

The Rookie Lifeguard Programme is the junior award scheme of the Royal Lifesaving Society UK (RLSS UK).  For most children Rookie Lifeguards will be their first opportunity to explore water safety and alternative safe aquatic play.  The Rookie skills will prepare Rookies to take better care of themselves, their family and friends, and give them the information they need to promote water safety in their day-to-day activities. 

Synchronised swimming for boys and girls is available at the Nene Centre as part of our Swim School programme on Saturday mornings 10am-11am.

Swim school participants will need to be Stage 6 or above.  If you’re a competent swimmer aged 8+ you can also take part (but you will need to be assessed for your safety). 

You will need to book and pay for the course in advance – call into the Nene Centre or give them a call.

*Family Swim is a session designed for families in a fun, relaxed environment.  Parents must accompany children in the water.
